Ummm, aren’t the words “quiet” and “loud” antonyms of each other? Yes, but not in this case.

Let me tell you why.

I have explored two different kinds of humans. The first one is the one who tells people everything. Not in the extrovert way, but the one who shares every inspiration, motive, action, thought, and dream they have for themselves.

The second one is the one who shares nothing. Someone who is isolated in their existence, in their dreams, in their goals for their lives. They want life to be defined by their own success.

I will say, I myself have not enjoyed either one of those identities. The reason for this, I think, is because there is something everyone needs to learn in recognizing how much needs to be shared and who it needs to be shared with.

I spent a lot of time being what I would call an “extreme visionary” (because frankly, oversharer is not a name I want to call myself), and this is where I had word vomit prematurely. And so now, I have two questions I ask myself before exploding all over a conversation:

Is this person plotting to take from me, after having said what I’ve said? Will they fill me up, or steal what was rightfully mine?

Have I gotten far enough down this idea where it is mine to even share, or is it simply a possibility still?

If you’ve answered those questions and sat with the idea that perhaps you’ve jumped the gun, well then perhaps you were like me.

However, when you share nothing, and you are floating through life trying to fill your identity, all while proving nothing to no one,

Who are you serving?

That is why I think there is a fine line between the two. So now, I choose to live a quietly loud existence. I will approach new ideas, creativity, inspiration, dreams, and hopes with intentionality and patience at first. But in doing so, I will live out in boldness; I will explore new ideas in public spaces and communities, and I will carry the joy of unpredictability. You will see me up front, loudly expressing myself, but with my true goals and purpose hidden until they are fully ready and prepared.

So, which one do you want to be?

Quiet, or loud?

Or… both?
